Default Fuel pump harness- a time bomb!

Esteemed Colleagues:

On the 12th of August 2023, I posted a new Thread under "Issues with fuel pump". I own a jaguar XJ40 1993 American version VIN 675945. The car has been totally redone, but I was having a loud buzzing noise from the fuel pump- Thanks to a few colleagues, I followed their suggestions and bought a Carter pump P7222.

Today, my mechanic finally took the gas tank out (That´s a major job just by itself!) and the fuel pump out. And then they send me some pictures of the fuel pump harness which is looking terrible! My Mechanic even advised me I was lucky the gas tank did not explode. Please look at these pictures!

So, NOW I have to look for a a fuel pump harness that will match the CARTER fuel pump P7222. I have searched the net for hours now, but I am concerned that the harnesses shown will not match the Carter Pump.

I ask for your help in choosing the RIGHT Fuel Pump Harness. From the pictures it seems that there are several cables.

Thank you!

Warm regards

Pedro

The electrical connector on the top of the tank is part of the EVAPORATIVE FLANGE and NSS. (not sold or serviced separately)

Keep the fuel filter changed to lessen the load on the pump.

Esteemed Colleagues:

Thank you for your replies! For once things worked out OK, here in Portugal. My Mechanic contacted his trustworthy Electrician, which was able to save the fuel pump harness, by replacing the wiring, with thicker wiring. Why was the wiring damaged? As already mentioned by another colleague, the wires were "too thin". The fuel filter was completely clogged, and the fuel pump just about to go "inop".

Replaced both the fuel filter and the pump, new wiring applied, no more "vroommm noise" from the new pump.

Will soon be publishing some pictures of my newly renewed XJ40. But MUST still tackle A/C issues, check engine light, and warning regarding fuses 1 and 3.

But for now will just enjoy car, engine running like a dream...Reached 126 MPH (on the speedometer) yesterday. And that was without "sports" mode!.

Warme regards

Pedro
