Default Fuel pump relay

So I now have a 94 3.2 xj40 in the fold.....it was starting and running well. Now she just won't fire. No fuel. When i give her fuel thru intake direct she fires straight away and runs momentarily. Fuel pump is not buzzing so I'm working my way thru the system.....checked fuses, connections etc. Before I take out the pump I want to check the relay. I have checked around but I can't definitively locate it. My car is a UK spec right hand drive 3.2 car manufactured in Sept 93. Where is the relay? Thanks in advance for your help....JJ.

Check the inertia switch under the dashboard before you go taking things apart.

The Electrical Guide will show relay and other component locations.

S65_93 covers BOTH the 1993 and 1994 4.0 Sedans.
I don't know if the 3.2 is different.

Gus should have it on his site. Cannot upload it here as the .pdf is over 8mb in size.

Also am I right in thinking I should hear a faint buzz from the pump in tank when I turn on ignition? Do you folks hear anything with your xj40 ignition on?

Found it! Yes right corner of boot over lamp assembly....light blue relay in black holder. Power to it but not coming out to pump. Crossed out wire and pump runs! I may have let it run too long though because she appears to be flooded now! Still at least pump is sending up fuel to the engine. I'll let her sit a day or two and try again.....ooops. thanks for the help everyone.

It will be one of the 'crappy-blue-HELLA-relays'.

See the TBS for these relays.

On a '94, I believe that if you depress the accelerator all the way to the floor while cranking the ECM will disable the fuel injectors, so the flooded cylinders should clear if you let it crank for several seconds.

Cheers,

Don
