Default Fuel pump Tank Seal Replacement -- Needed?

OK the fuel pump on my XJ6 has started to make some angry sounds and before it leaves me sit I am going to replace it. WHile getting parts prices I found the tank seal is aprox $90.

Does anyone know if this thing is reusable? or is it a must have? I may order it and return it if I dont use it but I was just curious.

Thanks

Joe

Joe,

Being near 20+ years old, I would always replace that seal, UNLESS, it is easy to get at later in time.

I bet its NOT, as its the same as the X300, so tank out to do the job is NOT fun.

I would shop around for that seal. I use XK Unlimited in San Louis Obispo for many items, and even with shipping down here, I am still in front.

What can I say, I agree with Grant.

But I reused mine. Still going strong years later.

Thanks for the tip on XK unlimited as it's always good to have another source. On these parts they were more expensive. The seal was $112 vs 87.

I was going to stop driving the XJ for a little anyways aft I did some work on my Trooper, it's getting a timing belt, water pump and some overdue maint as its been sitting for a few months. Then I will tackle the XJ. Aside from the new problem of the fuel pump I need to check in on the left blower motor and low air flow issue. I want to tackle the CEL. I think the ecu has a fault and I am going to open it up and check for a bad solder joint or relay???

If that wasn't enough the wife's Jeep needs a fuel tank sending unit as the gaugeis reading incorrectly and she ran out of gas at over 1/2 a tank showing. I guess it's a good thing I have a lift to use.... Now all I need is time.
