Default Heat Issue and the blowers are good lol

So the heat comes out fine and strong but only out the vents and defrost. I am getting air out of the foot well vents but it's ice cold. I'm assuming it's a blend door issue in the dash, but before I went tearing into the dash again, I wanted to see if anyone else had tackled this issue and what they found the problem was.

ArmyJag,

I found this on another site on XJ40s. I hope it works. It could also be a vacuum line issue though. Years ago when I had a '90 XJ40 I had a similar problem, but I just taped up the offending flap so I wouldn't get cold air.

Now that Autumn's here i of course expected when i wanted warmth i would get it , to my horror the best car i have decided that i wasn't going to have any on my feet
Hoping it was just a sticking lower blend flap i removed the drivers knee bolster and proceeded to gently tap the servo motor housing and viola i had my heat back

The motor housing is situated under the piano shaped heating ECU the one with the three white connectors

If tapping didn't work the next thing would be to remove the ECU to gain access to the housing and remove it , you can then turn the flap manually to free it up ,

Thanks, I'll give that servo a poke with a stick here in a bit and we'll see what happens.

Army, please post up your results, in all the years that I have run this XJ40 I have NEVER realised that you could even get heat to your feet! brrrr.

And as far as I am aware on the one I can drive, the other is well er, flat'ish, all the heater systems are working fine.

I will but I decided to feel like butt tonight instead of working on the car so right now I'm laying on the couch eating chicken noodle soup.

The flap isn't actuating when the heat is turned on. It is failing on both sides so I'm going to have to do a little electrical trouble shooting. Unfortunately this is back burner now with the o2 sensor issue.
