Default Help with high idle

I have a 92 vanden plas, (75k orginal miles) with a few minor issues that i would appreciate some input on. 1) The idle is about 950-1100, at all times - at lights you really have to step on the brake pedal or it'll pull away from you. I had the fuel fail 14 code come on once, then i reset the computer and it hasn't come back on. my guess is a bad temp sensor? is there a way to ohm it out and test it? The throttle linkage is not bottoming out on the idle screw stop so i can't manually adjust it. 2) when i put it in drive, it seems like it takes like 2 or 3 seconds to engage. is this delay normal for Xj6's? 3)Trunk locks screams like a half dead hooker when I unlock the doors. Can i clean and lube the actuator to remedy this? 4) Rear driver side door does not fully unlock when you unlock the car. It makes a noise and moves a little, but does not unlock. Is this something I can clean too? 4) need some decent shocks for this thing too. Any suggestions? 5) Is there any replacement floor mats for this thing? The ones i have are 'flaking' away from the backside and its driving me nuts the brits had the wonderful idea to not put in a carpet 'shell" like EVERY OTHER CAR IN THE WORLD HAS! Great idea . Oh, and one more thing, is an adapter plate needed for an aftermarket stereo install? Thanks, any info will be greatly appreciated.

Ill only answer 1 question, you high idle is probobly from a weak throttle return spring on the throttle body, you have to just remove the top cam towerthat the cable is in (3torx bolts) and wind the spring around 1 more time to increase tension, and adjust you cable to remove almost all slack

are you talking about the cam the cable is it? cause i was talking about the spring and I wouldnt change/fix that with the engine running. next issue are IACS(idle air control solenoid) not operating correctly, but these throttle where very well known deposits on the throttle and weak spring under warranty. we where always cleaning for sticking throttles, high idle and adjusting idle stop, and spring.

I have a coolant temp sensor on the way, if that doesnt work, I will clean out the throttle body and adjust the tps. Anyone know the ideal voltage reading of the tps at idle and at 2200 rpm?

Ok, new coolant temp sensor did NOTHING! Waste of $36 dollars. What else would cause a fuel fail 14 code? What next?

man, Its been along time since I worked on those daily, pm me tommorrow and remind me, I think we have 1 sitting. Another thing to do would be to go to the dealer, or if theres a Jag independant the has a PDU(portable diag unit) it was the computer to use way back when to fix these cars. Run an engine setup, and 02 sensor orientation, this fixes alot of drivabitly issues with these cars when nothing is really found to have failed,(not that you dont have a problem with the coolant temp sensor)
