Help with thread size?
Hello Gents,
Does anyone know what size thread these holes are in my 1994 XJ40 4.0 base model. I'd like to use them to mount an amp in the boot.
In this model, the battery is on the right side in the boot. The pics show the location of the holes.
Thanks in advance,
David

Threaded hole sizes....
malibudav.... My '94 xj6 base model doesn't have any threaded holes for a CD changer or such, only an insulated pad. There's no consistency on the Jaguars it seems. I took a CD changer from a '95 to put in my car, and the changer in the '95 was just attached w/ sheetmetal screws to the underside of the trunk panel. Didn't see any threaded holes in that car either. The '94 was pre-wired to accept a CD changer, but no apparent mounting place or bracket. (The "new" CD changer works fine). David.

Thanks for the replies.
I went to Home Depot yesterday and the clerks let me take a few sizes out to my car and the M6 bolt fit perfectly.
I'm not sure why the threaded holes are there but I'm going to try to build some kind of bracket and hang an amp just above the battery.
Since I don't want to change the head unit (young thieves here in California don't have any interest in factory radios) I'm running speaker level inputs from the boot to the head unit. If I ever change to a newer head unit, I'm running a couple of line level RCA cables whilst the car is torn apart.
I'll try to post pics of the job....
Cheers!
