Default idle air control valve stepper motor

i unplugged the stepper motor when it was cold and no change. unplugged it again when it was warm and no change. are these the symptoms of a bad one?

idle fluctuates when cold. runs real strong at first and then it levels out and runs like crap when the idle lowers, but then goes up to about 1000-1200 sometimes and evens out until the a/c or whatever clicks and then the idle goes down and runs like crap again until i put it into drive, and it'll idle fine.

while warm, the idle stays high, even while driving (i dont have to keep my foot on the pedal to keep a steady speed. feels like cruise control) but runs good at idle and acceleration. no hesitations at all, just high, usually between 800-950

Default

also i forgot to add, i took it out still attached to the plug and turned the ignition. the plunger came out about halfway and sounded like it was struggling, or clicking a lot but not moving, and then went back in.

on my chevy, it goes all the way out when the ignition is turned on..
