Default Intrusion detection sensors-roof

Thought they were convenience lighting. Pulled em out and read the sticker. Are they motion detectors? IR detector? Do they fail? After how long? When/how are they activated? What do they do when triggered? Is there any logic flow at the signalling layer? What all components are involved assuming they work at all?

I have limited knowledge: they are motion sensors. For the X300 series, some markets (not USA cars) have them wired into the alarm system. They might have been standard US equipment at your 93 model year.
