Due to high demand, I had to take the production line into action. In a few months I have send to UK, Hungary, Germany and someone local in the Netherlands
Great job, looks fantastic!
What is your current pricing on these boards? We discussed this years ago, but since replacing/repairing the original drives, I've never needed the board. It would be good to have the option to switch to a modern, faster, more reliable drive, though.
Have you ever considered having the power supply board created as well? That would give you the option to sell complete "base station" units. Most of these PDUs were 2-to-a-bench, which means there are many bare PDU units out there without base stations. I have a spare myself.
I've been contemplating moving the base station internals into a ruggedized, handled case that's more fitting for a garage environment, as I don't have the workbench for the base station, nor the room for it.
No idea how many there are, that is because:
- Old units around still working
- Ford made an updated base station including new IDE drive so they are still working
- I took over this project from a Ford minded guy and I have no idea how many he has build, but I have build 30 so far. (12 to Germany, 6 UK, 3 USA, 3 The Netherlands)
I have considered building a power supply, wouldn't be that hard but no time. In the UK there is a guy who did it. I am having 3 PDU's and two power units so it would be great having an extra one build but no need for it. And yes there are more PDUs than base stations but demand is low so I think if you would like to have a PDU you should be able to find a Ford PDU ( FDS2000) and build the most important cables yourself.
That is a great opportunity for somebody! And rare with Al the boxes with breakout boxes with it! I already have a set and postage to the Netherlands would be a lot, other wise I would have bought it.
I see a blue lead for a (Land)Rover T4 set, do you have more T4 stuff?
Hi- you sure you want that cable? I don’t think it connects to a PC, but instead to a printer that uses a serial bus (like an old 8 dpi dot matrix Epson or something). I could be wrong about that. -John
I may be wrong but I am looking for the cable that connects between PC and PDU. There is a PC program where data from the PDU can be transferred. If anyone knows how it works to transfer data from PDU to PC tell me how to do it.
I already have the software. I bought an old PC with Windows XP to make sure it would work.
If you notify me privately your email, I can send the software to you.
Good to see a printer cable 'in real'! Have checked in my storage but I don't have one . Maybe MikaelD can sent the software to NTL1991 so he can put in into the dropbox in the first post of this topic.
if anyone wants to try you can make a CPC to J1962 converter and pull abs and tcm codes off the XJ81 and 93+ XJS with IDS, maybe more i don’t know. a certain vendor sells them for about 80 bucks
