How do I remove the indicator from the front side wing it's solid
Hi Richard,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us!
If you're asking about the side indicator lamps that fit into the side bumper extensions, the lens attaches with two screws. There is also a rubber gasket that tends to glue itself to both the lens and lamp housing, so you typically have to gently pry the lens out with a flat-tip screwdriver, plastic pry tool, etc.
If in your region XJ40s were equipped with a different style of sidemarker lamp, it may look like this:
Note the small toe screw in the side of the lamp. There may also be double-sided tape that helps support the lens connection to the body. If so, use a short section of Nylon fishing line like a cheese cutter to saw back and forth through the double sided tape until the lamp is free.
Don B: Not to hijack this issue, I recently used your fishing line recommendation to remove various emblems and it worked like a charm. Not only did it easily remove the emblems, I now have a use for the lifetime supply of fishing line since I don't fish. Thanks, Ren
