Welcome to the forum patricio,
I've moved your question from XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III to XJ40 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.
Jaguar badged so many different models as XJ6, it can be very confusing!

No local wrecking yards? No sure what they might be called there. Have you checked on eBay? And is it destroyed/ done/ no good to anyone, or could it be rebuilt? - even if you took it out yourself..
¡Hola, Patricio!
Jerry's suggestion is a good one - you can try to find a good used transmission from a wrecking yard, salvage yard, junkyard, scrapyard, breaker's, or desarmadero.
If your car has a 3.6 litre engine, the transmission is probably the ZF 4HP22, which was used not only in the Jaguar XJ40s, but in several models from BMW, Land Rover, Peugeot, Volvo, and others, including the Chevrolet Opala that was sold in South America. This should increase your chances of finding a good used transmission in the Buenos Aires area..
And since this transmission was used in so many autos, any good transmission repair shop that services ZF transmissions should be able to repair yours.
Can you tell us exactly what is wrong with your transmission?
Cheers,
Don
