Exclamation Key Code!

I recently changed my ignition switch, and with it came one key. The one key was pretty worn, and was bent in weird ways.

I took the key to get another one made, to avoid my only one being worn out so much it did not function therefore being left without a key. The locksmith was unable to make the copy. He attempted three different times and none of the copies worked. He suggested to go to the dealer, take my registration and ID so they can give me the key code. I'd assume they would give me that based on my VIN, which is what I don't want since it'll be the code for my previous key.

The real issue now was my attempt to straighten the key. Yep, I broke it. So my question is if the code can be retrieved from the ignition switch itself. Some sort of label, part number, or identifying feature that can provide the code?

I'm stuck without a key to turn on the car. This sucks.

-----EDIT-----
So I took the risk of sticking the broken piece in and inserting the rest. The rest still had enough grooves that would catch, in turn, turning the ignition. It worked. The problem still remains + a piece stuck inside.
