1988 XJ40 VDP

I would llike to find out which size Leaper 5" or 7" would be correct for my restoration project? Jaguar of Tulsa could not tell me as their books show hoods both for and with out leaper mounting holes, but nothing on the correct size. any information would be very helpful. I've looked through the XJ40 postings but may have possibly overlooked a thread that might have answered this.

It is my understanding that XJ40s did not come from the factory with Leapers installed on the bonnet.

 

7" , it doesn't look ponderous or bulky . Series III's look small . I just have X300 on my hood and looks brill

 

Trick Freestones, Regent V12, Thank you both for the replies. Trick, you may be right, as the Jaguar dealer could not give me an answer either. I have seen Xj40's with and without the Leaper, and made me wonder. the 40 I am restoring was hit in the right front area and the former owner had purchased a used bonnet for it and it has the mounting holes in it, so I will be placing one back there (gotta have one, I'm egotistical enough to want one. Ha). Regent V12, I agree with you, I was looking at a Soveriegn the other day and it had the 5", looked small for the size of the bonnet, so I will opt for the 7' size.
