My boot has decided that it will not open. I have a 1989 jaguar xj40 and for some reason it is refusing to open. This has happened a couple of times before and after so many days it then opens. Can anyone let me know if there is an overide switch in the car to open the boot or what i can do to get it open and solve the problem

 

You can get at the latch with a long screwdriver by removing the number plate. It's at a hell of an angle, but it can be done.

 

Thank you for this, I will try this tomorrow. I was hoping that i could do something within the car to get it to open as i have heard stories about a lever inside the car but have not come across one

Had this problem on my 92 model XJ6 aswell though it always worked to open from the button in the glovecompartment
