o2 / Lambada Sensors - Up and Downstream ?
Seems to be a bit of confusion in the parts world about the upstream and downstream o2 Sensors.
I can find a lot of upstream or front o2 sensors but not a lot of downstream or rear sensors. In some cars, they can be different, so I am wondering about the xj40? Have only had it 6 months so hard to know much about it.
Looking at replacing both if possible, but also wondering if the rear one is actually a thing on my 1992 xj? One way to find out tomorrow is to have a look. Might even be two considering the two exhaust pipes? Have not checked yet.
Looking to replace all the sensors to ensure it is going to run reliably. So it's a simple question either way.

Recently I have also been looking into putting a straight through approach towards catalytic converter removal. Plenty of simulators out there, which might solve the problem if the rear one is hard to find, or if nobody knows much about them. Easy fix if they are hard to find.

On the XJ40 there is only one o2 sensor.
The sensor is located in the top of the exhaust pipe. You can see it at the first bend of the exhaust pipe, directly below the firewall.
Have you had a look through the parts diagrams at the Jag heritage site?
If not, here's a link to it:
