Default Oil pressure question

Hello everyone. I am brand new to this forum, and one week into Jaguar ownership! I recently purchased a 1991 Sovereign. I have wanted a Jaguar for 30 years, and finally found my opportunity. My question is about the oil pressure readings I am seeing. When cold, the pressure reads between 4 and 6 on the guage. It tends to stay around 4 after warming up. After a good 30 mile freeway drive, it has dropped to below 2 when stopped at a light. When I get going again, the guage pops right back up to around 4. What I found strange is when I stopped at a store for 10 minutes. When I started it back up, the guage held steady between3 and 4, even stopped at a light, and remained that way the rest of the way home. Is this all normal? What's going on here?

Thank you Larry. I was wondering if the sending units tend to go wonky. It's like that on another car of mine as well.
