Got some bits off Redd for the ol VDP yesterday, thanks Jim!

A front bumper (mine has torn rubber)
A passenger side mirror (see new thread "mirror swap")
A centre exhaust mounting rubber (fitted this morning)

...and a few little clips and trim fasteners ,,was good visiting again!

Mileage (kilometerage??) fast run, many hills, about an hour and a half each way, stopped a few places on the way up, part town traffic at this end, VCM came in at 13.7Km/100L average - that's 20.6 mpg imperial or 17.1 mpg US, ok for a leadfoot like me I guess

Found a good guide on the not-so-straightforward lens swap procedure on Coventry West's site - Installing XJ40 Taillight lenses

Hi there manwhch66,
Do you happen to have the bolts that hold the battery cover down, the toothed cable inside of the antenna (can't remember the name for the life of me haha), the front fender emblem, wheel emblems, the trim that goes around the shifter knob that has the little switch, or the driver side door handle?

Hi Jaguarguy13,I could help you out with the shifter trim, and switch, and the wheel emblems, but I think they are a mismach.

I would also have to know what trim level your Jag is,as the door cards I will be left with are a base model design.

Let me know,Cheers,Jim

My car is a base model 1994 XJ40, I could send you a picture if you'd like. I didn't look at your car closely enough and upon further inspection the wheel emblems are a bit different. Thanks in advance.

More pics to post,It's been a slow go lately,old man,bad back,yadda-yadda.

Got the interior just about stripped, and now to tackle the wiring under and within the dash.

The pic of my hand shows the wiring for the radio, and where all the wires join up before the radio.

This is the point you have to get to,to re-make the connections for a modern radio unit.

Apologies to those who wait,it IS coming!

Cheers,Jim.

Jim,

I wish the carpet and sound deadeners didn't weigh so much - shipping to TN would probably cost a fortune. The driver's side carpet in our '93 got torn up when my son had to wear a knee brace and kept dragging his shoes across the threshold. Just to dream, do you know the color code of your interior?

Don

Jim,

If you get around to posting photos, even if I can't make sense of the postage, someone closer may ****** up the carpet.

Thanks!

Don

Default Front of the engine

With the sun coming out,it's time to turn attention to front of car.
Pull the fan, rad, condensor, oil cooler, hydraulic pump,CPS,to gain easy access to the harmonic pulley.

Lunch time, more to follow, lots of nifty parts here.

Cheers all,Jim.

Will do Larry, and as a byline,if a fellow(or gal)were doin some thinkin, the easy way to get a little more timing out of the ign. arrangement, when you have this thing off,is to pull the locator pin on the reluctor ring, and re-drill the holes!

Tee-Heee Heee!

Getting this thing off was not too tough.1 1/4 socket will just tap on to the big screw, bang, she's off.
Tap 8mmx 1.25 pitch,to clean out the puller holes, apply puller, slow and smooth and she's off.
Beer time now.....
Cheers all,Jim.

Jim, don't know if you still have them but it looks like I could use a number plate light lens, the one on the left on my car has a cracked wiring support that I'm forever having to deal with and I'm fed up with it!!

Could also use a couple of spire-fixes (those clips that the screws thread into) that hold said lens in place, fed up of fishing mine out from under the trunk lid

cheers mate

Larry

ps - I only used a few bits from the front bumper, the rt side plastic and the rubber, all the other parts and chrome are just sitting in the shed - I can bring it back, don't really need it ....
