Default Power window dilemma.. yet another

Soo over time I've lost use of the two back windows (one at a time but close together). We're approaching QLD summer now, and I NEED at least one back window to open (son sits in the back). I've taken apart the door today and tried spare switches, no luck. When I power the window, the switch does make a click sound so I know power is getting to the switch- but I have a hard time believing both motors died at nearly the same time. Short of trying to replace the motors, what else can I do?

Did you try putting power directly to the motor? This would at least confirm the problem part. Its a 2 wire motor so you can run it up or down depending on which side you put the hot wire. Good luck!

Hi BeckBeck,

You've probably already tried this, but if I recall correctly, on the driver's door switch panel is a switch marked "Isolate" or something like that. When it is in one of its two positions, it interrupts the ignition-switched earth/ground for the rear window motors, so even though the rear window switch relays operate (the click you hear), the motors cannot run because the circuit is not complete to earth. It might be worth checking that switch at the driver's door just to be sure it isn't in the wrong position or stuck between positions. I think it's a child safety feature.

Cheers,

Don
