Radio problem XJ 40 3.2 1992
The radio on my XJ 40 has stopped working.
The aerial now goes up when I switch on the ignition/acces key whether the radio is on or off.
Prior to the problem the aerial went up and down with key on and the radio on or off.
The security light flashes with the ignition off as normal but I am not being asked for a security code. I have entered my code but it does not activate the radio, cd player or tape player. Both 'C' fuses check out.
Is there a relay I should be looking at?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards,
Eddie.

I believe 2 relays for the antenna K2 and K3. Up/down. At least that is what is shown in the diagram.
You can download the electrical diagrams for your car from the FAQ above or this link.
Have you tried joggling the Cass/CD selector switch. You don't have a stuck cassette by any chance? The system apparently defaults to cassette operation.

Hi Richard,
No cassette in use but the last operation I remember doing was selecting CD tracks. I will check the CD player. Thank you for your help.
Update.
I checked the CD changer and there was a CD 'stuck' half way through a 'CD Change' operation. It took me a while to release the stuck CD but even after that there was nothing.
I took it for a drive today and 'CODE' finally came up on the screen even though I had not had the battery disconnected.
I entered my code and I now have the radio operating again.
Thanks again Richard.
