Hello all, I recently bought a 1993 XJ6 for 1600.00 and need some advice on replacing the brake accumulator ball. Is it difficult?, location? tips?I am not
familar with Jaguar engines but I'm sure with all the experienced Cat owners here, I will be taught well. Thank you.

Hi So Cal Gato:
I'll be doing the same thing on my '91 this spring. Difficult? No. Location? Engine compartment - can't miss it. Tips? Two things I've heard is a) you can use a oil filter wrench, and b) have lots of towels at the base of the sphere ready to catch the excess fluid. Even though you will have depressurized the system prior to taking out the old part, the sphere will retain some oil and can make quite a mess.
Best of luck!

And that is the important part to depressurize the system before unscrewing the ball. If you do a search you will find how to take the pressure off by pumping the brake pedal.
Update and questions...
So, I retract certain earlier statements. I went to replace my own accumulator sphere and it's a lot harder than I was expecting. Does anybody who has done this have a tip of how to keep the base stationary whilst wrenching the ball off? It is seriously screwed on tight. The base seems to be 'floating' on it's connection to the engine bay; and I don't want to put too much pressure on it because of all the brake lines going to and fro? Suggestions???
So Cal Gato - did you get yours off?
Also - a oil filter wrench, at least the one I have, definitely won't help.
Thanks!

I used a impact wrench, with the adapter for the allen head.
