Smoke from engine bay, can't seem to figure it out!
Hey everyone!
I used to burn oil through the exhaust, I replaced the exhaust valve stem seals and that problem is now gone. Now it seems like I'm burning oil somewhere down by the first cat in the engine bay. Constant smoke comes from the engine bay when the car gets up to temp. It isn't the valve cover seal, I made sure of that. Could it be that the head wasn't tightened down or something?
I honestly have no idea where the leak is coming from, and I'll try to pinpoint the source sometime this weekend. Maybe the head gasket didn't seat right and is letting oil into the cylinders, but I don't think so because the tailpipe is completely clean a burning oil smoke!
I've been at Uni, and finally have the time now to finish the car up again!

A common source of oil leaks are the two rubber "half-moon" seals at the rear end of the cylinder head. When one or both of these leak, oil drips down the right side of the bellhousing and onto the exhaust pipe. When you replaced the valve cover seal did you also replace these half-moons and install them with RTV silicone sealant per Haynes or the Workshop Manual?
Cheers,
Don
