Which Stereo, Head Unit, Entertainment System
I am thinking about replacing the factory audio system in my 1992 XJ-6 Sovereign and I wanted to ask what system and/or components others have used in similar model Jags.
I'm hoping there is a replacement system that will fit nicely into the factory opening.
Thanks for your input and suggestions in advance.

I found this on line and it looks nice with what they did, and just to let you know 6 1/2 woofers will fit in the locations under the back seat. You have to do some mods but they will fit without hurting the car. I have an 88 I plan to put 4 inch Audiobahn ABC4002V or Pioneer Premier TS-D402P in the doors, and put 2MA Audio MA65B 6.5" Mid-Bass Woofers below the back seat. I will power the 4 inch doors off the Pioneer head unit I forget the model number. And power the two subs off of a Alphasonik PMZ1502, so 25x4 rms will be going to the doors and 2 x 75 to the subs. It should be a rocking system. After that I am going to re clear the car using house of color clear with a blue pear added to give it a different look(should look good over the factory navy). I am going to keep the stock wheels and refinish them but do it different than you would think. I am going to use a Mirage MP-404 Ice Kit from duplicolor and apply 3 coats of clear over it,its awesome it is silver but changes every color of the rainbow in light. I wonder how it will look on the wheels,I guess we will see. But before all that i got to sort out the car and get the basics first then on to the fun stuff. I have plans for it,its going to be sweet when i fix it like i want it. I am keeping it stock all but this.

Thanks for the link and info. I understand about sorting things out. I thought I had completed that phase and was on to the fun stuff as you put it, but then the A/C compressor died a few days ago. So now the audio system funds are going to redo the entire A/C system so I don't have to worry about it any more.
Good luck with your ride. Post a few pictures when you get it completed.

Hey man, I dont have my 1993 XJ6 anymore, but this is the following set up I had, which took me a while to find because I wanted the Jag to look nice still without botching up the radio area. I went with:
1) Alpine head unit that had suboutputs, cost $200 brand new.
2) Alpine CD Changer, which connects directly to Alpine head unit and works like factory changer using the head unit's controls. It was SWEET. 6 CDs in the trunk and one in the front... Cost $300 brand new.
3) Sub Box with (2) 12" Alpine Type E Subs.
It all sounded so clean and perfect bass and subs. Wasnt obnoxious like some systems and was in the trunk so you could really appreciate the surround sound of a sweet system. Plus theres a seperate sub level control on the head unit too. Take it to a GOOD QUALITY audio shop, not Best Buy, Circuit City or anything like that they wont have a clue what to do. I had mine done at an upscale place in Buffalo called Stereo Advantage. The Alpine head unit fit perfectly in place of factory radio area. Sat back a tiny bit deeper but it damn near looked stock still! Whole system cost me round $700-800 installed. You'll be very happy with an Alpine setup they're my favorite brand. lol.
I still have the Alpine head unit (with ipod cable too) and Alpine CD Changer from my XJ6. All the cables you need still. Could save you a little money. Say $250 for the head unit and changer and cables. Was $500 brand new couple summers ago. PM if interested!
