Default Tires for 1990 XJ6

Today, I spent a good part of the day attempting to locate a tire for my car. Jaguar recommends a 205 70VR15 tire, which is non-existent in this town. I was told that Pirelli makes a limited number every year due to low demand, but once they are gone you must wait until they do another run. So that leaves me with the option of buying something with a reduced tire rating. An 'H' rating is the next rating down. But that, too, is nowhere to be found. The most common rating for the size tire I need is a 95T. Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with running a 95T rather than a 95V?

This seems to come up a lot. I wonder if US Jaguar recommends different sizes?

Because in Europe for 'Tear drop or Roulette' standard rims we have 225-65-VR 15 or same size to 99V.

Pirelli being the only MU of this size.

That's it.

Actually, I just returned from a visit to a local tire store. They suggested going to a 215/65R15 96H. That's the closest speed rating to the Jaguar recommended 'V'. This tire is a little wider and a little lower, I believe he said. The salesman informed me that the 'V' rated tire has a stronger sidewall, which I would not get with the 'T' rating. He suggested that going to the 215/65R15 with the 'H' rating would provide the stronger sidewall. Any thoughts?

If you plan on running up to 130mph, the H rating is what you need. T Rating is 118 mph max. The difference of 12 mph. You will get a better ride quality with the T but the H will corner better. It all depends on how you drive the car is what rating is best to use. If you are like the rest of us and just drive it up to 80 mph average, T is going to be fine.
