VIN weirdness

VIN weirdness
So I'd read that there was some weirdness involved in decoding the VIN, but the number on my 1992 XJ6 doesn't seem to align with the code sheet at all. I have SAJH where the sheet only lists SAJD and SAJJ, Also, it seems to indicate I have an emissions system that meets middle eastern standards? Some of the characters aren't even listed; places 5-8 and 10 don't match the chart at all. I think I have a Sovereign, but I truthfully have no clue.
Someone please tell me what I'm looking at haha. I will try to post pictures if it'll help, but I don't have a camera at the moment.

What market is your Jag? USA/North America has its own VIN convention. I think Japan does as well, possibly others.
Many VIN decoders are USA-centric and don't recognize VINS for non-USA market cars.
I've seen Jaguar tech data that doesn't recognize the USA VIN system
Some older Jags (not sure about the XJ40 syle) sent to the USA/North America have two VINs on the car. One is the 'born with' VIN and the other the "USA VIN"....at the windshield and door tags, and elsewhere as well....as VIN tags for removable body panels were required in the USA by then.
Cheers

Nothing weird about SAJH, pretty standard AFAIK - you need to use a different decoder, e.g.

This totally makes sense. It's a US market car. My dad (partner in this endeavour) said he tried Jaguar's own website's VIN decoder, and told me that even that didn't recognize our car's code (I haven't seen this, I just know what he told me). Which is the VIN I should use for parts and such? Where on the car can I find it?
20 minutes later:
As I was typing this, I visited the website myself and chatted with a rep who said they would have a parts and service rep contact me to help me orient myself. Is this luxury? Customer support on a 27 year old product?

Ok - take the last six numbers of your vin and check out what you need here.

then, when you have the part number you need, google it. Usually that will turn up quite a few hits.
Or - buy from the dealer and take out a bank loan - your choice!
