Default water on front floor boards FIXED

i have searched the archives to no avail...i think its comming from the sunroof...how do i clean the drains and check to make sure they arent broken or loose.only wet when it sits in the rain....checked cowl and all seems fine...thats why im looking at the sunroof now....the rubber around it when closed is missing a small section about 2 inches long in the front center....any ideas on an easy fix for this...thanks for any help.

I'm not sure about the later models, but my '88 has a duck bill drain on the engine side of the firewall about 3/4 of the way along, below the windscreen. They regularly fill with debris which prevents the water draining from this area which causes water to seep into the cabin. Have you checked this?

The other info I've read on this problem is that the drains from the air con condenser can become clogged and lead to the same problem. These run from under the centre dash console, down the side of the transmission tunnel just forward and below the shifter and drain under the car next to the transmission.

Hope this helps

Before doing anything i would make sure where the water is coming from(hose down the car a little bit at a time and inspect to see wher the water is coming from)

In many cases water on the floor is a result of the drain tubes by the evaporator core getting clogged. Check to see if you get water on the floors when the a/c isnt running. If not, then you'll need to get under the car and blow the drain tubes out with an blow gun.

Prepare for an ice bath if there is a blockage.

Good luck.

Did you check the duck bill drain?

I am almost certain that your water problem is coming in through the firewall... if it's not the duckbill drain then suspect it is seeping in from around the windscreen...rust?

another place for leaks is the harness seal on the right side just below the battery, on the left it is the seal around the master cylinder mount to the firewall.
I took a generous amount of silicone and sealed both areas... knock on wood dry so far...

Yes, replace seal.

Hardly surprising, rain tends to fall downwards, car washes generate random horizontal/vertical diffused water.

On my 93 the car had no visible body rot, but the foot wells were getting soaked when it rained. I traced the problem to the cowl (it was rusted thru) above where the fuse boxes are. I had to remove the windshield wiper, then the plastic cover , which exposed the problem(there is a slight indent in the cowl (above the fuse boxes)where water accumulates and caused the rust. It was an easy fix(jb weld), as my car had sat for years there was damage to the fuse panels which i replaced and cured my electrical problems as well.
