Where is the linear gear position switch on MY88 car?
I am still trying to diagnose why the 1988 XJ6 that I picked up cheaply earlier this year won't turn over when the key is turned.
Some of you may remember that I confirmed the starter does actually function by jumping the pins in the stater relay socket.
Now I am trying to locate the linear gear position switch (the switch that allows power to flow to the control circuit of the starter relay).
On other cars it would also be called the neutral safety switch.
I went over to where the car is stored this evening and pulled what I thought was the linear gear position switch but after coming back home and referencing the wiring diagram, it seems that I may be mistaken.
The switch I pulled has a part number of CBC-2663 and looks like the photo below.
If this is indeed not the switch that allows the starter relay to be energized, where is it exactly?

I could be wrong, but I believe the linear switch on your car in incorporated into the rectangular module in the attached diagram that says "electrical section". Part number DBC2684.
