XJ40 91 Temperature LCD lighting

From: Leesville, west central Louisiana.

XJ40 91 clock LCD lighting

On my "new" 91 XJ6 the clock LCD light stay on a short while then turns off. Once off I cannot get it to come back on when I depress the light button on the left side of the LCD. Diagnoses and resolution if possible?

oops meant the clock not temperature !! Sorry about that one !!
