So this is a 1989 a bought that has been standing still for 14 years. It runs when injecting start gas but not by itself. Injectors will not engage fuel in cylinders. There is no corrosion as the car has been in warm storage and it has only done 80000km. It looks very good condition and started last year.
Fuel pump ok and I have preassure at fuelrail. Checked wiring at ECU and it looks like new. Ideas anyone?

Jaguarlars,
Not a lot of information in your post to assist with. I would start with the injectors since you suspect a problem with them. However, if all are not operating the problem will be in front of them.
Go to this link and download the XJ40 Haynes manual:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...r-index-50609/
Scroll down and click on the XJ40 link and open the manual or download and go to the section 4 and read over the entire section, especially the section for diagnosing the injectors. Also, go to the back of the manual and look over the schematic in section 12, page 17. It will give you a good idea on how the system operates.
Considering how long the car sat, there's a number of thing that could be in disrepair. Be sure to inspect all hoses, seals and the air intake system for leaks or cracks.
One more thing (Beat you to it Don! ), clean every earth ground you can find. There are about 5 of them in the engine bay that I can think of. Battery negative post, firewall (above wiper assembly), one on each wing (near the headlights, and the engine earth ground (have to get under the car). Clean any and all grounds that you find, these cars don't like dirty grounds. Even if the car was garaged all that time, there is still oxidation that occurs. Don't forget, the ECU has a ground as well.
Start with the above and report back so we can help some more.

jaguarlars,
Glad to hear you figured it out! Below are links to photos I took of the process I used to clean the fuel injectors on our '93, and how I replaced the filters and O-rings using an inexpensive kit sold on eBay.
Cheers,
Don
