XJ40 Roll Call
Thanks for the welcome MidwestJag,
I have actually always loved the Jags, specifically the XJ6, but this XJ40 came up for sale at the right time and place so I snatched it up and love it.
I am familiar with the fact that this particular model (88 & the 89) had many problems ranging from the dash to the hydraulic suspension (done away with in the later models) and just about everywhere in between lol.
Since getting it I have been doing lots and lots of research on it trying to suss out all the problems and fixes hehehe
I am actually having a great time learning all there is to know about them, along with some frustration hehehe
It is my goal to restore her to her former glory, while keeping her as original as possible.
For this reason I do not really want to change the dash to the later analog style gauges etc. I would rather try and fix or replace it with an original.
Luckily for me the suspension looks like it has not been modified and is still in good working order, it has not sagged and is still a nice comfy ride.
Along with the instrument cluster staying lit after ignition is switched off and key removed, the diagnostics screen is also intermittent, sometimes it displays and other times it doesn't, but a swift thump on the top usually gets it working again, so I am guessing it has a loose or dry connection where the module mounts. I will get to that later.
Anyways, I just wanted to make my presence known and say hello to you and all the good people on the forum. I look forward to more communications in the future.

Hi mrtalkradio,
Your my kind of Jag owner! Have you done the rear end work before?
Cheers,
Don

Good to hear from you, mtr. Sounds like you've got your work more than cut out for you! Take a few pictures and show us your work, if you have time time!
