Default XJR (x306) parts interchangability

Not sure that is even a word....

Anyway, one of these is for sale locally, for dirt cheap, and thus was contemplating picking it up if some (25%) of the parts were able to be swapped out once the XJ40's need replacing.

it is a 1990 XJ40 4.0l that I want to place the parts into once they run their course.

Some parts will work ,most of the electric morors seem to be the same but yhe connectors are different. ome relays might work, seats and body panels are different (although they look the same) But if you can steal it, it may be worth it.

Yes.... I can steal it, so may be worthwhile.

motor is supposed to be the same AJ6 used in the xj40, with the supercharger of course.

So, if my xj40 AJ6 experiences issues, a swap should be somewhat do-able.

Hold on, this is not the XJR that Bigexpectations had to move on is it?

I know Canada is a big place, but it seems like a coincidence to have two very cheap ones at the same time.

What is so wrong with the car that it can't be fixed (if it is accident damage, see above).

About the only simple thing that they have in common is the fact that they both begin with XJ.

No, it is not his. I am sure Big Expectations was parting advertising on other free webistes local to Ottawa and wanted $3k for the engine itself.

This XJR apparently has minimal wrong with it (as per seller) and is selling complete for under $2k.

I am not wanting another project car, as my XJ40 I have already bought all new wood interior for, etc.

Only wanted to pick this up if I could break it and use some of the parts for the XJ40. I thought that the engine and tranny could be used, as it is supposed to be (as per my vague readings) an AJ6 - so, my thought was that some of the mechanical parts could be interchanged.

Obviously, body and interior parts are nul and void, as it is completely changed, though thought the other pieces could be used, with minor modifications if any.

Commentary is appreciated.

Hi, yes but Big Ex let the car go to a yard for about $1500 IIRC.

It's like buses, nothing, and then 2 come along at the same time.

All I know is that if it was me, the XJ40 would have to be sold, new parts and all, and then the money put into sorting out the XJR.

If it really does not have much wrong with it.

Some of our more tech savy guys can give better advice, but from what I read over the various forums, the conversion you are thinking about would be a nightmare.

Others please dive in.
