15" Chrome / metal wheel identification help please
Greeting from Durban South - Africa, I normally only deal with Porsche parts so am hoping someone here can assist me with some information on some Jaguar wheels that I recently got with some Porsche parts I bought.
I have a total of 8 wheels as per photos below, 5 of which seem to be chrome and 3 of which seem to be standard metal ones, not sure why there is an extra chrome one and short one metal one that is just how I got them. I was told the metal ones came from an standard XJ6 and the chrome ones from an XJ12 but have no idea if this is correct, can someone please clarify this. They all seem to be 15" 6J ET 35 and marked LP 921 A if that helps at all. I would also like to know an idea on value if possible, I honestly have no idea what they are worth and as I dont deal in Jaguar parts would like to know so I can then list them on the Marketplace forum if viable to ship.
Thanks in advance for any assistance much appreciated
the chromed ones are Series 2 XJ-6 or XJ-12 wheels, (1973-1979), they are missing the center caps. The fifth wheel was for the spare tire in the trunk.
the painted ones are basic steel wheels fitted to E type, MK, and possibly XJ cars shipped to different countries from the 1960's to the 1980's and they usually came with full hubcaps, or center caps, and some cars came with beauty rings.
value is whatever someone is willing to pay, but the Moderator does not want us to place direct or indirect ads in this forum, only in Marketplace, so it may be better to not discuss prices here.
Here are the chromed wheels in a 1978 Daimler version of the Jaguar XJ, those have the center hubcaps.
The chrome version is often referred to as the "Chrome Turbo" wheel and was used on the Series I XJ6/12 cars as well. From the pics yours look to be in much better condition than most. You shouldn't have any problem selling them. Value? I can't say.
