1972 XJ6 Seat Replacement
Hello Jag Lovers!
I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with swapping out the original front and back seats? If so what brand or where can I find universal seats to fit with minimal if any fabricating or welding to make them fit? I have considered reupholstering the seats but they are beyond repair in my opinion.

Surprised you didnt get any replies.....
I would think you could swap S2 seats into an S1, and I am also reasonably confident S3 seats would fit into an S2, (as I have removed and replaced seats in an S2 and S3 car. The challenge is finding a nice set at all. It's rare to find a ratty S2 or S3 with a good interior....... The seats are usually one of the things making it ratty in thr first place.
Your rears dont look too bad. The front need at least new covers and possibly some new foam.
I have recovered Jag seats myself (XJS) and it's doable.
If you look on ebay for a seller called "lseat", they are offering leather fronts for around $300.

I had emailed him to ask some questions and they were pretty responsive and seemed to know what they doing, ie they asked me if I had wide pleats or narrow pleats. They also sent me color samples quickly when I requested. In the end I went with another (more expensive) vendor because I needed a specific color (Isis blue) and as I am only replacing the front seats, the color has to match. But he did have black, which looks like it could work for you?

Thanks for the reply Sarc. I did get one other message from Roger Marbury and he mentioned the same thing as far as swapping S3 seats out. Youre right, finding a pair of seats in good condition is pretty slim these days so I'm thinking of reupholstering them is the best route. Thanks for the link on eBay!

S3 seats fitted in 1972 XJ
The seats fit fine.. it is just hard to find ones in good shape after all these years... these came from EveryDay XJ in NC...
The best change were the S3 front door pockets... they have the handle (arm) to close the door with...
The beige front seats were from a Sovereign... they were in terrible shape.
The new owner wanted the chrome around the instruments and the special dual vent setup in the parcel tray area... lots of custom work.

They are on their way to me know, so I'll have them in hand early next week and will post back on the inital impressions.
Interested to hear how you get on with Lseat....... As I said, they were very good with presales, so hopefully their product is good.

I got my leather covers from Diamondmall yesterday.......
First impressions are very good. Similar to what I saw on my XJS seats, there is a lot of work goes into these covers when you look at the back of them. They are made with leather on the facing surfaces, and vinyl on al the side and rear surfaces, which is exactly how the original seats were. Their color match (Isis Blue) is very, very good, and I will be able to install these into my car and keep the original door cards and rear seats. I'm looking forward to getting on with fitting them.
How did your Rover seats turn out from Lseat ?

I have a full set of leather covers from Lseat, just haven't put them on yet. First impression is they don't look or smell like the kind of leather I'm familiar with. Really no leather smell at all, but again the same holds true for most of the leather home furniture I've been shopping lately! That's prob about all I need to say at this point. Updates later.
I'd love to see pics of your weber carbed Xk motor!

I fitted the covers today (1 side at least). Pretty pleased with the way they turned out. Would definitely buy again.

hello everyone,
I'm a complete newb in this space and would love your advice/recommendations on a seat (also carpet) restoration. I've heard good things about Lseat, so I think I will go with them.
my seat cushion/foams are completely done and will need new ones. If you know where I can get order a pair, that'd help me tremendously. I was quoted ~$700 per seat from an auto upholstery shop and thought DIY would be the way to go.
any suggestions would be awesome! Thank you.
