Default 1983 XJ6 blinker problem

Hi all - new here.
The blinkers on my 1983 XJ6 will work correctly until I take it to get inspected. By the time I get to the station, they won't come on. I can let it set for a week or two and start it up and they work fine. Does this sound like a relay?

Thanks!

Just a wild guess, but, I'd suspect the flasher. Swap in a new one.

If all the blinkers simultaneously work and then don't work, I agree with Carl. A dud flasher is a very likely suspect.

If it's more of a case where some work, and some don't....it might be something else.

As with all electrical problems checking and cleaning all relevant electrical connections before replacing parts is a good practice. For example, you might pull the flasher and examine the pins and sockets for corrosion.

Cheers

Thanks! Back in my day, when the flasher went out the lights just stayed on. Here, I don't get anything. I'll swap it out and try it.

Thanks! I'll check those too before changing parts.

do the Emergency Flashers work? (Hazard Warning), or do you also get nothing?

Don't think that's it...just added a quart of Crown Royal to it. Should work fine!

I don't get anything. The hazard flashers also stay off.
