Hi, i own a Jaguar XJS 3.6 from 1984, im living in cyprus and its quiet hot here, i wanna recomp and improve my air intake. But im in between two options but i don't know which one suits better for me. A shorthened but wide air intake or Longer and relocated intake?

A short one like this?


Or longer on the above radiator like this?

 

Any intake that picks up the air outside the engine compartment is by far the best. Your first picture would be my last choice.

So relocating and extending the pipe above to radiator cover would be more beneficial?

 

Yes, just make sure there are no issues when the bonnet is closed. Here is a picture of mine, different series, different engine, but same idea.

The one that ingests the coolest air and use some self adhesive foil insulation on the bottom side of the air take box. The coolest air is in the wheel well. I've used a 90 degree bend and small panel as a slash shield.
