Default 1984 xj6?

I have a 1984XJ6 jaguar. When I got it, it did not have any keys with it. I had a locksmith come out and they told me they couldn't make a key for it that I'd have to get the entire ignition. Does anybody know where I can get the ignition with a key, and possibly even door keys and trunk key. You very much.

for 1983-84, the Key for the doors, trunk, gas filler locks, and glove box should be the same.
At least that is how it is in my 1984 model year, built in June 1983.
Then there is the one key for the ignition switch.

The door jamb sticker should tell you the Build Date.

you can still get blanks of those keys.

Hi, just to recap the Series 3 cars 1981-1987 should have had three keys from the factory.

Ignition key is single sided
OEM Waso FZ/FR ( rubber cap )
Ilco FT6R ( all metal )

Door, glovebox, gas caps, & trunk/boot double sided. Domed top
Ilco BL6

Valet key same as above but thicker "wings" to prevent it from fitting the glovebox & boot. Dished top
Ilco no blank found

page from the owners manual ( originally scanned / posted by Jose ).

Picture of the keys, the dished one is the valet key

The blanks are available online and on ebay etc. If you can find a "old school" brick & mortar locksmith they can make a key ( using a blank ) to fit the removed ignition lock or glovebox lock. The mobile guys usually don't have the experience or patience to disassemble the lock to do the job. They just want the quick, easy jobs ! I've had spare locks keyed by my local guy for reasonable prices.

Cheers,
Brian
