1985 Series III
Welcome to the forum, youll get the best advice on here.
I feel inclined to give my $0.02. and since I'm writing I can't be told to shut up. But go ahead and say it.
It sounds like youv'e resolved your issues by installing a thermostat, but if not then I have some input. You never mentioned a water pump. Has that been checked? second, it's alot of aluminum in this motor, they run hotter and they can handle hotter because they're aluminum. If i got the numbers right then 100 is close to 212 Farenhiet. and since it's aluminum it can handle around 250ish. Mine has gotten to about 110 a couple times and no issues whatsoever(aluminum). hitting the hood release is a great idea, never thought of it before I read this thread and I will definatly do it when I'm in traffic next time, especially since it's a reverse hood and we don't have to worry about it slamming the windshield and blocking the view(been there, done that). Oh yea, third. testing heating at an idle is never a good Idea without the fan in front of it.
Doug is a wizard, heed his advice!!!
Any how, i hear you all saying shut up.
Dude your car is sweet. Enjoy it and welcome to the forum.

easy way to prime / pressurize the fuel system:
1) place the shifter in 1st Gear ( 1 )
2) turn the ignition key all the way to START the engine and hold it for 4 seconds, then turn back to OFF
3) repeat number 2 (you will hear the fuel pump priming)
4) place the shifter in PARK
5) crank engine, it should start inmediately.

Thank you all for your advice/suggestions. Unfortunately, I have not been able to work on the car for the last month or so. Other urgent matters came up that had to be attended to first. Will be another couple of weeks before i start to work on the car. I will keep everyone updated on my progress when i resume. BTW, with the car sitting for the last month on my driveway, I noticed some transmission fluid on the floor. Seems as if it coming from the dipstick tube. I am not sure, but sometime soon i will lift the car and take a look. What is the proper procedure for checking the trans fluid level? and what is the correct type of transmission fluid for the car? Type F or Dextron II? Thank you for your input.
