Default 1985 Sovereign (SIII) fuel pressure gauge hook up

I am trying to figure out where to hook up a fuel gauge on engine. The book says to disconnect the cold start injector and connect it there. What I want to do is connect a fuel gauge and leave it in the engine for periodic monitoring. There is not enough space between the rail and the cold start injector. Would hooking the fuel gauge in the return line give me the correct readings?

Run two longer hoses with your fuel press gauge in the middle

No

Thanks Doug,

So, what keeps the fuel pressure up after the ignition switch is off? There is a check valve at the fuel pump side but what keeps the fuel from returning back to the gas tank? Do the fuel return valves shut off once power is gone allowing the fuel pressure to be retained?
