1986 jaguar xj6 - no start

We have a 1986 Jaguar xj6 in the shop because it wont start. The owner said it has been sitting for 5 years in a garage and has not been ran since than. This car we finally got it to run for about 15 minutes ran and idled farly good. The next day we tried to start it we couldn't even get it to try and run. So we did our test procedures on it and we have good spark on all cylinders and we have good fuel pressure. So we went and tested compression and we found out that #1 had 0 pounds, #2- 0 pounds, #3 - 0 pounds, #4 - 0 pounds, #5 - 50 pounds, #6 - 0 pounds!!!. What is going on with this car? Have any of you had this sort of problem before? We are headin to thinking the piston rings are bad. As far as we can see the valves are closing and opening. We also did a leak down test were we inject air into the cylinders and see where the air escapes but we can not see it come out the exhaust or the intake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

How about putting a number on that fuel pressure? Bad regulator= 80 PSI=washed cylinder walls.

Fuel pressure is running about 40 - 42 PSI

Advice- probably worth what you pay for it!

I would put a few cc of oil (2-3 tbsp) into each cylinder and try the compression test again. If it builds, look for bad rings. If not, then you clearly have a valve timing problem.

As to the blow by- if it ain't coming out the intake or exhaust, then you should hear it out the crankcase vents, I would think. Maybe your compression tester is shot, or you aren't making a seal at the plug hole?
