1986 Xj12 Turmoil
Hi Everybody,
I have been the proud owner of an Xj6 1984 Series III since about 2007
and i have just had one great big carrot dangled in front me.
i had the opportunity to drive an xj12 5.3 HE 1986 Series III with 131,000Km or 80,000 miles
all i have to say is wow it feels like a completely different car, its been fully serviced by my local jaguar dealer for its lifetime and in immaculate condition
i want to trade in but i have this sad feeling about giving my Xj6 i feel like i have rose-coloured glasses on even after a week of separatioon
is there anything i need to consider when making the v12 purchase? or has anybody done a successful conversion on a 6cyl engine to a v12

Not all that much to fear about the V12, and lots to love. They'll soldier on forever so long as the cooling system is 100% up-to-snuff.
The V12 is more difficult to work on, yes ...but worth it, especially in a Ser III. Fabulous combination. Most DIYers get a lot of satisfaction from a sorted-out and sweet running V12. If you're not a DIYer, though, repairs can get expensive.
Many here can help you work thru the V12 quirks and requirements.
I say "go for it" but, of course, I'm biased (note my signature).
Cheers
