I have recently bought a 1991 xj6 without an owners manual. And I need to know what the warning light in the dash are. Lightning bolt, circle with an x in it etc.

 

Try in the XJ40 section as that is likely the car you have.

This section caters to 1968-1987 XJ6 and 1973-1992 XJ12s aka the Series XJ's.

That symbol is related to a bad light bulb in the turn signal. I have it go on and off intermittenly so I assume I have either a small wiring problem or a bulb that is loose or going bad. It will come on when the signal is turned on or off but cycling the blinkers will make it go out. That is why I suspect a wiring issue. Maybe losing ground for an instant. Hope that helps.

 

The lighting bolt means you have a fuse blown. Look at your own board computer and it will say Fuse 1,2,3. Fuse 1 is in the right door. Someone may correct me but I believe Fuse 2 is in the center console and Fuse 3 is in the left door. There will be a lot of fuses so you will have to figure out what is not coming on when it should. I had both of those problems and fixed them by just checking each circuit to see if it worked. My fuse was the cigar lighter.
