Have any of you tried this kit: Jaguar Body Upgrades

Unfortunately, he's out of stock at the moment.

Jaguar Specialties kit looks great. But they seem a little bit coy about their pricing. Maybe they have trouble maintaining stock- wouldn't be surprised. Would you be willing to share what you paid for your kit, Dale?

Darren, does your eBay source have more finishers, or was this a one time thing?

Thanks,
Andrew.

Tar,
Maintaining stock was the issue. I was on Andrew's list to contact when the finishers became available. If I remember correctly when I got them later last year, the complete kit was around $500.

the only problem with the uk ebay is sometimes they dont want to ship , but you can normally persuade them!!
or if it comes down to it and they simply wont do it, find a member on here from uk that could be a go between!

Got my finishers for ebay.uk for 50, then went to Victoria British, from a spitfire, to get the buckets and lamps. I got ones with park lights in them, they are little 5 watt bulbs that come on with parking lights.

Way cheaper than buying "a kit" and they look better with my awesome park lights!

Default relay upgrades

I'm building a Delphi weather pack style front lighting harness for my dads Jaguar-I am adding a delay off circuit to a HO relay kit and I plan on using some Hella replacement high intensity housings and H4 style bulbs. This is a pretty common upgrade on older GM muscle cars and the wiring for this Jaguar will provide a nice updated harness which should alleviate about 90% of the bad front harness lighting design. I'll post pics of the harness in case anybody may be interested.

Hello,

I finally put a kit together and am just missing the 7" headlights. Can you recommend a good casing for H4's that projects a good light pattern and keeps a classic look? I'd also like it to have the extra hole for the secondary small bulb.

There are so many ugly modern casings, with focus lens, clear glass, very visible brand logo, etc.

Dale, your XJ is beautiful. That's what I'm aiming for (I swapped to XJS wheels too), but in Cobalt blue.

Thanks,

ROD

Thanks, Rod.
I like it as well.
I'm not sure those are "XJS" wheels, per say.
I'm under the understanding that those 16x7 (not the 15's) Lattice wheels were only available as an extra cost option on the 1993-1994 XJ12 sedans. Not the 6 cylinder version. Also on the XJS but only with the "SportsPack"(?) option. They are rare, difficult to find. Got lucky with mine. Found a brand new full set (4) never on car still in original shrink wrapping. It was a nice Christmas gift/find for me.

Are those Pirelli P7's on your series III? I'm having a tough time finding tires to fit on the stock 16" Kent alloys that came with my series III and wondering if lattice wheels (assuming I can find them in good condition) wouldn't give me more options. We put P7's on my wife's X300 and it transformed the ride of the car.

Yes, those are P7's. Good eye. Those are the "Ultra High Performance" summer tire version of the P7, not the A/S or all season P7. My car doesn't see winter (or even rain for that matter if I can help it), so I wanted the summer tire. Great tires! They do fit (obviously), but are very close to the fender lips in the rear. Very close. P225/60/16. I would check what offset your 16" wheels are to make sure the same size tires will fit, with mine being so close. The offset for those 16x7 lattice wheels on my car is 33mm.
Hope this is useful.

Dale, for the 7" headlights, it looks like you have a domed style, as opposed to a flat glass. Can you confirm? Do yours have the secondary small bulb hole? Does anyone have a good source for a 7" classic looking set, (no modern reflectors, or clear glass, or blatant company marketing logo, etc)?

At first, I thought I wanted the flat (same as vehicles with headlight wipers) but yours looks great, and domed looks good next to the smaller domed lights next to them.

About the wheels, I hadn't noticed yours were 16", but now the you mention it, it does look sportier than my 15". I considered the 16" a while back and looked for an the XJ12 set (as you referenced), but I decided to keep the extra sidewall.

Guys, where do I get a good set of 7" headlights? I'm in Canada, eh? But will probably be in NY for part of the Christmas holidays. I'd like to get them then.

Thanks,

The 7" headlights are the standard sealed beam 3-prong units you can buy at any auto parts store. Mine are Sylvania's. H6024 if memory serves. I would think you should be able to find those fairly easily. If you want to do a headlight part number search via your local auto parts stores website, tell them you need headlights for a (for example) '76 Triumph Spitfire. That's a car with only one headlight per side, which are the 7 inchers.
Good luck.

That sure is a nice BRG car with pristine lattice wheels.

1. What is the big deal over 7" outer lamps in lieu of the symetrical four 51/4"'s?

2. My 83 came with 6x15 alloy Kents. Still have them. Not pristine, but decent.

3. Courtesy of a local Kiwi owner of a pristine XJS I have a set of 15x7 lattice wheels wearing 215 x 70 B. F. Goodrich on my car. Look great drive great.

4. Wish my Jeep had a simple set of seal beams,. 7's or 51/4's would be just fine.

Purely esthetical. Jaguar designed the car to have 7" outboard lamps. In the U.S., you can't have a four lamp system with 7" outboard. So, don't tell the DOT and/or the police that I have them!!! They have to be all 5 3/4". To me, the trim ring around the smaller outboard lamps looks goofy. But that's because I've seen pictures of how Jaguar "meant it to be", so to speak.
