What is this thing here (picture attached)?

I'm trying to find a suspected vacuum leak and this connects to a pipe that looks like it connects to the throttle body. I'm hoping it is a coolant pipe and not another vacuum line.

So there's another potential vacuum leak. I notice the pipe tees off and the branch also has some sort of switch and then disappears through the right "wing" (I would say fender but I'm trying to think British).

The switch is a purge valve. It opens to draw in fuel vapors from the vapor canister in the fenderwell

you welcome, that is not a vacuum source, it's a fuel vapor recovery system, like the PCV check valve system; The purge valve or "switch" allows fuel vapors to be routed into the engine to be burnt during combustion.
