Default '86 XJ 6 Update: Buzzer Problem, etc

Hi, parts came today: tank bung gaskets and strainers (24 hour service: wow), so I flushed the tanks again, blew some air through them, and installed the screens and bung plugs. Put some gas in each tank, installed the new battery, and Gotta Try 'er!

She cranked over nicely but no start. A shot of fuel in the intake, then instant run attempt, which pretty-much proves ignition and sends me down the "fuel supply-delivery" troubleshooting tree. I have the excellent descriptions found elsewhere on this forum; thanks!

Only problem I encountered: once I turn the key on, a buzzer inside starts, and will not shut off, no matter what, even with the key off and removed. I took the battery cable off and it stopped, of course. Reattach the cable, and it stays off until the key is turned on again. Can someone please advise about this buzzer?

Thanks a bunch!

If you remove the driver's side under-dash trim panel you'll find the buzzer. It'll be on the component panel along with some relays. It says "Pektron" and actually has a little speaker grille

Technically it's called the "seat belt logic unit"

Thanks, Doug. Will it hurt anything to just unplug the buzzer?
I'll also try buckling the seatbelt next time.

Won't hurt nuttin'. I kept the buzzer in the top drawer of my toolbox for years. You'll lose your "key in ignition" warning buzz, though, as I recall.

Cheers
