Default 86 XJ6 disassembly pics

Here are a few pics from the project last saturday. The guy in the "wife beater" t-shirt goes by the name dickvoodoo on the XJS part of this forum.

This is what an XK & BW trans looks like out of the car.

Here are some pics of the gas tanks we found in the car. What a bonus!

I have a pic like that with the engine just out of the car, except I left the suspension on the car. I also have a pic of the engine ready to go back in after its rebuild. I'll have to look them out and get them scanned for this forum.

Surprisingly, the fuel tanks were not all that difficult to remove. The only tough part is accessing the one bolt to the side of the muffler. I inched it out while my son leveraged the muffler away a couple inches. Don't think I can get that one back in without removing the muffler. May just keep that bolt in the glove box and have it put in if I have the mufflers replaced.

Working on putting the "new" tanks back in tonight. Had to take of some PM for rust on the inside of the wheel wells.

I could send you the pics but I really do not have any good shots of the transmission that would help you re-install.
