Hello I am about to buy this car from a friend but i haven't been able to find out much about it or what it is worth. The engine runs smooth and the rest of the car is in good shape. He owes me $3000 so i was trying to find out if am getting screwed and should just take the cash. If anyone knows anything about this type of car it would help alot thanks.

IMHO, you would be. Based on UK prices this morning on Auto-Trader, an 89 VDP would be 1000$ tops.

For = 3000$ you would be looking at late 90's models including 4.0l S-Types and even the odd kigh miles XJR!

I would only accept the car if, 1, I really wanted it and was not bothered about losing money, not only on the deal but also with repairs and maintenance.

2, if there was no other way to recoup the money owed to me.

Why not have your 'friend' sell it and give you the proceeds, thus at least partially reducing the debt for the time being?

Take the cash, if you can, and then if you really want a Jaguar, do an informed search for the right car, there are hundreds out there.

thanks I didn't think it was worth 3 grand but he keeps saying it is a vdp majestic and they only made 300 of them. I was only going to take the car if i could get atleast my money or more out of it. So I figured i would come ask some experts. I found some stuff about the 89vdp majestic on wikipedia and it says he is right about the 350 of them but i geuss that doesn't make it worth anymore then a normal vdp.
