SU carbs? K&N make a round filter that works great on SU carbs. You just need to take the paper/metal filter apart and sandwich the K&N in the middle

do you mean the Pancake carb filters?

I want the filter for the original canister, which is a large oval shaped filter that fits inside a giant muffler shaped canister.

Ahh you want those. Yes, I was talking about the round ones that bolt on to the carb with 2 (and later 3) long bolts. No canister.

Adrian, the S type and 420 air filter is very similar to the XJ-6 air filter except it is "ovaled".
