Default AJ8700 series radio code issue...resolved

I have an '88 series III and the radio has read "code" since I git it (6 years ago). I have read the radio manual and have put the code in many times (until I say **** it, I will live without radio)...very frustrating!!!!

The manual says you have 3 attempts to put code in, if that doesn't work, leave the radio "on" for an hour and you have 3 more attempts.

I am way past that number of attempts and have never made it work.

Power is getting there (the LED is lit up).

Update...

For some reason, after many attempts, this time it worked?!??! Not sure what was different, but now I have tunes!!!! lol

Ideas??

I know what you mean. I learned the buttons you push are not the ones you would think. Take a card, sit down with the manual and very carefully write out the exact buttons you push and when. I now keep the card in the glove box so every time I disconnect the battery (which is all the time since I am always working on the electrical circuits) I am able to quickly get the code back in the radio.
