Darren,
I got the "home plate" with the pile of other stuff and had no intention of putting it back on. The bracket part is spot welded to the fuel rail hold-downs and I just didn't think to cut it apart. I'll let it grow on me for awhile.

I'm sure things will quiet down with the bonnet in place, I plan to replace what's left of the sound deadening on the underside of the bonnet too.

Does anyone know the incremental resistance values for the Jaguar oil pressure sender and the Jaguar temp sender? Not absolutely necessary to see if they are working, but pretty handy to see if they are correct. Thanks

Did you get your seat covers from Lseat?

I have put my LT1 conversion on hold. It runs and drives but I still cannot get a proper scan tool to read the error codes. I have the CEL "ON".
The main reason though is that I am in the process of getting an XJS V12 running.
I admire your workmanship and innovation in getting your car running. Being detail oriented only leads to success.
Now it's time to reap the rewards of your hard work and enjoy the car.
CONGRATULATIONS.

Dave,
Intellectually I understand your Need to know Exactly the values of these gauges. I'm thinking it's a Guy Thing.

Acting on Doug's advice a few years ago, I got an IR heat sensor from Harbor Freight and pointed it at the back of one head to check the True engine temp when the needle was on the "R" in NORMAL (and other positions) as there are no numbers on this gauge and I was concerned about overheating. (My car, on the open road seldom gets hotter than below "N" but in town on a hot day with AC it nearly always climbs to at least "R" especially sitting at a stop light.) I found it's just below 210F when the needle sits on "R" so I have stopped worrying about it.

As for Oil pressure, someone in a position to know told me once that too much oil pressure can actually Erode bearings over time (I have seen the results of that but didn't know what it was at the time), and that some engines when at idle, the oil pressure is so low the light will come on sending PANIC through the hearts of observers. He said the Pressure at idle isn't so important as the Volume; which must be enough oil to keep the metal parts from touching each other, even for the slightest moment of time as everyone here knows very well.

Nix has an OEM Smith gauge which reads 40 pounds at 1500rpm, but I don't believe the pressure is actually that high (husband wanted to check it once, but as I'm a firm believer in Do Not Kick That Sleeping Dog I wouldn't let him break into the system). As long as it's above half scale and the engine doesn't make any odd or unusual noises at idle I'm happy to leave it alone.

Sanchez, thank you for the compliment, but I mine doesn't have anything over what you've done to that V12. THAT'S attention to detail.

Elinor, you are very insightful and above all else, a credit to your gender. I agree with everything in your post, to one degree or another. I really worded my request for sender values like I wanted to start manufacturing them, didn't I. That was not the right information for what I was looking for anyway, my trouble was the disconnected G wire on the back of the OP gauge. I must have been a little fat-fingered when I put the tach in the dash. It's all good now.

I have come across a few people in the past who's motto is "if more is better, too much is just right". Oil pressure can fall in this category.

Probably the last post for a little while, seat covers, bumper, and bonnet left to do. Little excitement there.

Took it out for a spin today! I changed oil/filter, cleaned up a couple of details, and put the passenger seat in (temporary). Ask my wife to go with me on the very first ride under it's own power, she said OK. Couple of laps in a Subdivision near us and felt brave enough to run about a mile down the secondary Borough road (paved). Let her drive back, she even smile a couple of times. Made the same trip with my Son, Daughter, and Daughter-in-Law, everybody smiled. Went 3/4 throttle very briefly a couple of times, I think it will justify it's existence.

Sadly, I think it's had freedom for the last time this year, temps in the low 20's at night and 45 during the day. The inevitable can be seen on the mountains.

Absolutely love and admire your work, Dave. What a great job you are doing. I bet you are really looking forward to getting it properly on the road when better weather comes around.

You have a great workshop and amazing skills with fabricating things - are you an automotive professional by background?

And that view of your area looks wonderful but that white stuff looks frightening - I am getting cold just looing at it. It is cool here today, only about 25C and raining........

Cheers

Thank you for the kind words, powerd. No, I'm not what you might call an automotive professional. I was born here on a "homestead" and lived very rural all my life, until my area became a magnet for hoards of people thinking it might be neat to live in Alaska.

Well folks, the project is done! I backed it out of the shop yesterday to take some pictures and then pulled it back in.

Thank you one and all for following the build and helping me over the years with my multitude of questions. I'm happy with the results and will be able to confirm that this spring when I get it out on the road. It has been more expensive than I thought

back 3+ years ago, but once I began digging and taking everything apart, I knew sleep would come hard if I didn't fix everything. And so, the project became a "piece of moose meat", which when chewed just keeps getting bigger and bigger (this is a term even few Alaskan's know). There are original items that I removed and after market items that I added, all to my taste. I thank the owners out there who did not bash me in the Forum for straying from a purist and traditional rebuild.

This post is not a farewell even though my wording might lead you there, I will remain a twice daily log-on member and enjoy other sections of the Forum. The "daily" part might not happen that way for awhile. I go in for complete shoulder replacement on 2/1 and they say recovery does not come easily, lots of "can't do that" time is spent. I'll get through it. Second shoulder later in the summer.

Pictures to follow.

Congratulations, LT1jaguar. A brilliant job, so much detail work and many things upgraded with precision. As you recognise, lumping is challenging for some Jaguar enthusiasts, particularly outside of the US and to a lesser extent Australia where it was not popular, probably because of the lack of access to cheap V8 or other replacement engines. As an owner of both a beautiful orginal car and a lumped one, I sit in both camps, but recognise that XJ6/12s are not rare at all so plenty of originals exist.

I bet you are looking forward to spring, I think it will be a wonderful drive.

Cheers

Hooraaayyy, Dave!!
And a Hearty Congratulations on top of that!!
I do hope you heal in time to drive this prize a bit during your all-too-brief Alaskan summer (although, it doesn't look like you have a lot of snow atm) before you have the second shoulder replaced.

And, I wish you Much success in surgery.
