Annoying rattle fixed, front brake area !
Ahhhh, silence
Been trying to track down a sporadic clattering-rattle for a few months. Whenever I have the car in the air for other work I spend a few minutes pushing, thumping, and banging.... hoping something will turn up
Today I hit pay dirt. The dust shield for the RH Front brake rotors was clattering when tapped
The culprit was item #13 in this illustration:

The fastening nut was tight. Note, though, that the widget has a hook-like configuration at one end. The 'hook' engages the suspension "upright" or "vertical link". (Crook your index finger around a pencil....same idea). The hook wasn't grabbing tightly....why I don't know. Anyhow, it was a simple matter to pinch the hook for a tighter fit against the upright.
Hopes this helps someone in the future
Cheers

another source of rattling at certain rpms is the splash guard under the radiator. It resonates at a certain frequency.
Yes I know many cars don't even have a splash guard anymore.
and another source of rattles is the heat shield over the manifolds. Same reason.
