Firstly Welcome to teh forum.

Please do a formal intro in the "Ne Members Area" when time permits.

I am going out on a limb and ASSUMING you are asking about the 6cyl engined cars???????

For the 6 cylinder in OZ, the S1 is BW12, and the S2 is BW65, and the S3 is BW66.

BW = Borg Warner.

The 1980 would NOT be a S2, it would be a S3. The S2 finished down here in mid 1978.

If its a V12 then there is some serious differences.

The 1972 would be carby engined, and a BW12.

The 1980 would be a PreHE (Fuel Infected) and a TH400.

Please let us know a little more about what you want to fit in what car, and then the answers will be much more specific.
